MINE MAINTENANCE PLANNER 

Reporting to the Maintenance General Foreman and working a 4 day on/4 day off schedule, the Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing a preventative and predictive maintenance schedule to maximize surface mining equipment availability and to ensure costs are maintained in accordance with production goals.

Duties entail the development of maintenance schedules, preparation of operating cost estimates, coordination of material and supply requirements, budgeting and reporting. Close liaison with maintenance, operations, warehousing and purchasing personnel is required and therefore, well developed inter-personal and communication skills are essential.  The ability to work with minimal supervision, to be flexible in responding to changing priorities, to have superior time management skills and to recognize the importance of process improvement is critical to the success of this position.

The ideal candidate will be a certified mechanical trades-person with a sound understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance in a surface mining environment, ideally with experience with Cat, Hitachi, Letourneau and Komatsu manufacturers.   Advanced computer skills with exposure to computerized maintenance management systems is required. Previous leadership and maintenance planning experience is preferred.   Above all, safety awareness must be the number one priority. 

 


MINE MAINTENANCE FORMAN

Reporting to the Maintenance General Foreman and working a 4 day on/4 day off schedule, the Foreman is responsible for supporting maintenance goals and objectives by directing the field and shop maintenance crews with daily maintenance, scheduling, breakdowns, repairs and major projects. 

The incumbent also assists the Maintenance G.F. with meeting and exceeding budget targets by participating in the preparation of equipment operating cost estimates, assisting with cost estimates for the tasks and projects, monitoring maintenance costs, and verifying and signing off daily contractor time, equipment and material cards. Coordination with surface mine operations and maintaining compliance with all Alberta regulations are also essential requirements of the position.

The ability to work with minimal supervision, to be flexible in responding to changing priorities, to have superior time management skills and to recognize the importance of process improvement is critical to the success of this position. 

The ideal candidate will be an Alberta or Interprovincial certified trades-person with a sound understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance in a surface mining environment, ideally with experience with Cat, Hitachi, Letourneau and Komatsu manufacturers.  Good computer skills and well developed communication skills are important. MINE OPERATIONS FOREMAN

Reporting to the Mine Operations General Foreman and working a 4 day on/4 day off schedule, the Foreman will manage a labour pool & direct all mobile equipment operations to ensure efficient and effective extraction of coal and waste rock from the surface mine. The incumbent will work closely and cooperatively with Mine Maintenance personnel and have the following experience and abilities: 

  •   Heavy equipment operating experience and mechanical aptitude

  •   An understanding of surface mine planning

  •    Scheduling and planning experience

  •   Be highly self-motivated and be able to positively motivate others

  •   Work within and develop a positive team oriented workforce

  •    Ability to develop and integrate people into the team environment

  •   Good computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office Suite of programs

  •    Strong safety and environmental ethics 


ELECTRICIANS

Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman and part of the Maintenance team, you are responsible for the maintenance of systems and components that are integral to the operations. Specifically related to the operation of our large haul trucks [170 - 240 ton] and involves AC and DC motor drives, working with gen sets, other mobile equipment and involves both field and shop work. Duties will include: maintenance, alteration, repair and testing of electrical and electronic systems and components.You will have a valid Alberta or Inter-provincial electrical trade qualification. Excellent troubleshooting skills are essential.


EMPLOYEE RELATIONS ADVISOR

With the recent union certification we have an immediate need for an Employee Relations Advisor.  You will be involved in the initial contract, future negotiations, and dealing with management/union issues as they arise.  You will also be expected to contribute to other Human Resource functions such as writing job descriptions, training, recruitment, etc.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with unquestionable confidentiality standards and excellent interpersonal skills. A related university degree and a minimum of 5 years employee relations experience is required, preferably in an industial setting.  Mining experience is an asset.  Attention to detail and time-management in this position are critical.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE COORDINATOR

Reporting to the Environment, Health and Safety Superintendent, you will be responsible for:

  • Train and provide leadership to the Underground and Surface Mine Emergency Response Teams

  • Coordinate Underground and Surface Mine Rescue response requirements, encouraging team participation and ensuring members are appropriatly trained, equipped and certified.

  • Prepare teams to compete at the Provincial and National levels.

  • Ensure required equipment is adequate, maintained and calibrated

  • Develop, maintain and implement related Emergency Response Plans, inclucing mutual aid relationships with other organizations.

  • Actively participate in AMSA led initiatives including the Mine Rescue Sub-Committee.

  • Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate key safety processes and programs as they relate to site wide emergency response planning/initiation.

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Formal training in a safety program with associated designation is preferred

  • Experience conducting and reporting on investigations

  • Well versed with underground and surface mine rescue procedures and techniques

  • Knowledge of provincial labour and privacy legislation

  • Familiar with underground and surface mining operations and equipment      


ES & H PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR

Reporting to the Superintendent, Environment, Safety and Health, and liaises closely with Supervisors and the Senior Safety Program Coordinator.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Development of processes to ensure that the database is easily accessible.

  • Assist in the updating and maintenance of the incident reporting database, training database etc; in liaison with the Senior Safety Program and Environmental Coordinators.

  • Ensure that Health and Safety programs are consistent with COR (Certification of Recognition) requirements and Environmental programs with ISO 14001 standard.

  • Assist in Safety and Environmental procedures development, safe work practice etc.

  • Assist the Health and Wellness coordinator with WCB as required

  • Coordinate, conduct and assist with Environmental Safety and Health audits.

IDEALLY THE APPLICANT MUST HAVE:

  • A minimum of four years direct experience in a Health, Safety Environmental role in an industrial environment; including experience conducting investigations and audits, is an asset. Other combinations of training and experience will be considered.

  • Thorough knowledge of Alberta Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety legislation and other applicable regulatory literature.

  • With exposure to ISO 14001, you will have previously been involved in the roll out and implementation of environmental initiatives.

  • Understanding of Certificate of Recognition (COR) requirements.

  • Knowledge of Intelex is an asset.

  • Good understanding of hazard identification, classification and mitigation.

  • Good understanding of policy and procedure development.

  • Well developed knowledge and ability in the use of word processing, spreadsheet database and presentation computer applications.

EDUCATION:

PLANT TRAINER:

Reporting to the General Foreman, the Plant Trainer is responsible for providing safety training, assess, advise and assist in Plant safety issues.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Complete safety inspections/audits.

  • Coordinate and participate in toolbox meetings.

  • Conduct hazard assessments.

  • Monitor Fire Systems.

  • Attend OSHE and safe work practice meetings.

  • Any other duties as directed by the General Foreman.

IDEALLY THE APPLICANT MUST HAVE:

  • Certification in Safety

  • Knowledge of OSHE Codes and Regulations

MILLWRIGHT

Reporting to the Plant Mechanical Foreman, we have an opening in our plant operations. the Millwright is responsible for the maintenance of stationary equipment. Duties include maintenance, inspection, repairs and installation of mechanical and hydraulic components.

You must have a valid Alberta or Inter-provincial millwright trade qualification. Insdustrial maintenance experience is required and welding experience is an asset.


INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN

Reporting to the Electrical Foreman, this incumbent will be responsible for providing instrumentation support to the Plant and Surface Operations as assigned.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Maintenance of a variety of instrumentation systems throughout the Site
• Compliance of government rules and regulations

IDEALLY THE APPLICANT MUST HAVE:

• A minimum of 3 years Industrial experience, possess strong trouble-shooting, analytical
and communication skills and a Journeyman Instrument Mechanic Certificate (Red Seal)
• Experience in Industrial Electronics, PLC's and DCS systems, pneumatics, flowmeters,
weightometers, temperature sensors and density measurement devices

DOZER, HOE AND DRILL OPERATORS

Grande Cache Coal Corporation has a unique and exciting role for motivated and energetic people. As we move forward in expanding our mining operations we are looking for Dozer, Hoe and Drill Operators to help us be successful in the long term operation of the Mine. This includes D10T and D10N dozers, 750 and 800 Hoes and Pit Viper and Tamrock Drills. Experience with more than one piece of equipment is required as we operate in a flexible, team oriented environment.


UNDERGROUND MINING ENGINEER

Grande Cache Coal Corporation has a unique and exciting role for a motivated and energetic person. You will be responsible for the design, planning and scheduling of mining activity to ensure compliance is within geotechnical parameters and that Company and regulatory (HSE) standards, policies and procedures are maintained. Additional responsibilities include designing all facets of mine activity including production, waste handling, tracking day-to-day production statistics, providing engineering technical support to mine operations, liaising with government representatives, consultants and other stakeholders, conducting project work encompassing planning and mapping

The successful candidate will have a degree in Mining (B.Eng.) with eligibility for registration with APEGGA. Well developed computer skills including proficiency with AutoCAD, mine design software and with the Microsoft Office Suite of products is essential. Sound knowledge of mining and HSE regulations, mine design principles and associated operational methods (ventilation, roof support, surveying) is expected. Solid leadership, time management and communication skills are essential to the success of this position.


HEAVY DUTY MECHANICS - SURFACE MINE AND UNDERGROUND

Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman, Heavy Duty Mechanics are responsible for the repair and maintenance of some of the world's largest mobile mining equipment including graders, loaders, dozers, scoop trams and ancillary equipment. Duties include the ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and maintain equipment following OEM and company procedures.

There are excellent opportuniites for trades people with Alberta or Interprovincial Tickets and are ideally suited to individuals with previous open pit mining, underground mining experience, forestry, farming or transport experience or for automotive mechanics interested in expanding their skills.
