Grande Cache Coal Corporation (GCC) believes in giving back to the community and contributes through a variety of programs including:

Education

Grande Cache Coal Corporation provides scholarships for children of employees who attend  university, college or other post-secondary institutions. The contributions vary depending on academic performance.

Each year GCC also presents 2 scholarships to local high school students.
$1000 for a Deserving Graduate
$1000 for the Top ELITE program student

The ELITE program is a trades related program developed in Grande Cache and now used at other areas in the province.

Community Outreach

Grande Cache Coal made a $1 million donation to Grande Cache’s Recreation Centre project. The Recreation Centre houses a 25 meter, six lane swimming pool, 4 sheet curling rink, NHL size arena, fitness centre and preschool.The Recreation Centre is very important to the community as it is a full service facility that is enjoyed by all citizens of Grande Cache. It is home to many groups including  Grande Cache Otters, Grande Cache Figure Skating Club, Grande Cache Minor Hockey Association, Caribu Recreation Hockey League, and the Grande Cache Muttoneers.

Sports

Grande Cache Coal sponsors teams in the local mixed softball league and the local adult hockey league.

Mine Rescue

Grande Cache Coal’s Surface Mine Rescue team competed in the Alberta Surface Mine Rescue Competition in Edson, Alberta on June 17 and 18, 2011.
